Readme for FC32

KEY FEATURES :
- Able to compare files accross network shares
- Nice graphical interface
- Able to play different sounds on either success or failure.
Can play Wav, Midi or MP3 Files
- Opens file as read only (and therefore can compare read only
files - i.e. files on CD-Rom)
- Works under Windows 95, 98 and NT
HOW TO USE :
- Select an input file 1 using the browse feature or type in
a filename.
- Select an input file 2 using the browse feature or type in
a filename. NOTE : File 1 and File 2 must have the same sizes,
otherwise the compare will not start. No sense in comparing files
if they are a different size, because OBVIOUSLY they are different!
- Click START to start comparing the files.
- If you would like to stop during the compare, then click
the STOP button (the start button will change to the stop button).
CHANGING THE OPTIONS :
- Click the Options button to change the options
- Use the browse feature to select your choices of noises or
music to play on completion
- Remember to check the boxes so that the sounds actually play!
- Clicking OK will save these settings to the registry. It
will use the key HKCU\Software\Lester\FC32. This settings will
be saved for the current user that is logged in, so if you have
multiple people who log into the computer, then each one can
have their own sound settings.
- Stop on first error will stop the compare process when it
finds the first mismatch. If you require both files to be completely
identital, then this feature will help in saving time.
TESTING AUDIO :
- Click the TEST AUDIO button to test the settings you have
just made.
- Click Open Audio File to open any supported audio file to
see if can play the selected file.
- Click Play Completion Audio File to test one of your selected
sounds.
- Click Play Error Audio File to test your other selected sound.
NOTES :
- The TEST AUDIO feature is there so that you can check that
the file you have selected can play, and also to adjust the volume
accordingly.
- It will only play MP3 files if you have a MP3 codec installed
(example WinAmp).
POSSIBLE PROBLEMS :
- If you have many mismatches, then the application may crash
while trying to list all of them. In that case you will need
to press CTRL-ALT-DEL and click END TASK on this application
which should read [not responding]
